The gallery is open Wednesday to Saturday, 10am-4pm. PLEASE NOTE: From December 23 through April, the gallery will only be open during movie showings.

2023 Artist of the Month Series

The Artist of the Month series showcases a local artist. An opening reception is held on the first Friday of the month from 5 to 7pm. Light appetizers and wine are served. This is a great chance to meet some of the local artists in the Northwoods. Works in the featured exhibit can be viewed and purchased throughout the month.

2023 Artist of the Month Schedule

June: Deb Lund – Rhinelander, WI
Watercolor and Pastels
Deb’s impressionistic and colorful paintings bring her subject matter to life in carefully composed watercolors and pastels. The inspiration for her landscapes and portraits of people and animals comes from her many interests and life experiences

July: Melinda Schnell – Boulder Junction, WI
Watercolor
Melinda’s new collection of works is titled: WATER, WATER EVERYWHERE. These are watercolors and sketches relating to Northwoods lakes, streams and bogs. Her work captures the dramatic interplay of light and water.

August: Sarah S. Thompson – Minoqua, WI
Paintings and Assemblage
Sarah’s current work mixes watercolors, acrylics and assemblage. Paintings of animals and landscapes inspired by the Northwoods are combined with found objects of historical meaning to create sculptural and semi-sculptural art. Her work is unique and stirs nostalgia for a time gone by.

September: Phyllis Schuit – Hazelhurst, WI and Wendy Ahnen – Eagle River, WI
Fiber Art
Phyllis creates wall-hangings that depict the strength of trees and the freedom of birds. The hand-embroidered blend of colors adds texture and depth to her work. Her love of design and color can also be found in her hand-knit hats and hand-woven scarves.

Wendy’s quilt art features Northwoods scenes, portraits, and semi-abstract images. The beautiful and unique designs range from complex to modern interpretations of subject matter.

October Varied Wisconsin Artists – Group Show
Not for the faint of heART – #2
This is a group show of works inspired by the theme – Not for the faint of heART. This is an interesting show where artists explore uncommon subject matter, use of color, or emotional themes that arouse the imagination.

November: Three Lakes High School Student Art Show
Three Lakes students will display art projects that showcase their creativity and elements of design. It’s a chance for members of the community to view and support local student artists.

2023 Summer Youth Art Program Schedule

Held at Maple Lake Beach. No Cost; donations greatly appreciated. Come and Have Fun! Ages 8 and under must have accompaniment. Programs start promptly at 9:30 until finished. For information call 715-546-2361.

The Marie Moore Gallery

Marie joined our Board soon after it’s inception and took charge of operating the art gallery. She was magic in finding volunteers and artists to become involved with us. She gained the respect of members, artists, and customers with her quiet, humble, and professional commitment.

Her dry humor and positive attitude were uplifting. Some people are born to try and save the world, but Marie saved the day, over and over gain, with her simple, sensible, and sane approach to problem solving and advancing the TLCA’s mission. These traits made her a wonderful president and once she took the job, we wouldn’t let her quit.

She had a great sense of style, artistic flair, and creativity that led to many themes for parties, titles for events, and clever decorations. She also made great deviled eggs and never failed to bring them to many “Meet the Artist” receptions, along with hundreds of other snacks.

We honor Marie by naming our newly remodeled gallery that she so loved and managed, “The Marie Moore Gallery.”

Marie was – above all – a very humble person, so there was no gala or big celebration. The plaque on the wall in her cherished gallery is where she can be appreciated and remembered by all who visit and are missed. Thanks for the memories and all you did for us, Marie.
